Unmoved by the Winds of Change?
It's been 25 years and living comfortably in the same community. Sure, there's been a few hardships and disappointments along the way. And with all the complaints, one must admit that it's been a good life and the children are working towards their goals. The realization of the North American dream of liberty and prosperity.
Step forward a few years with the retirement savings plan and the dream cottage is ready, set to go. Or, the plan may be to travel the world and enjoy the sunset at some tropical resort. And for the homebody: the idea of doing some light handiwork, gardening and staying in the community is enough to satisfy our days.
Overall, we are a self-reliant people and satisfied to bid one's time until all good people graduate into the ultimate abode of the just. It's a lovely heavenly picture and we always ascribe ourselves and the dearly departed with this legacy at their memorial tribute. However, the Bible doesn't say that a hard working, upstanding and charitable person would be saved on good merits. Yet to may, the idea of an alternate reality of eternal suffering is a biblical misprint and soon to be considered a hate crime against humanity. The subtle reality is that the devil has prepared a strategy of patiently waiting for lost souls and created a counterfeit church theology based on selective Bible study.
Notwithstanding, there are people who'd ignore unpopular warnings of God's grace and are unmoved by the Winds of Change. The daily newspapers decry how widespread lawlessness and violence has become in our cities and how docile are the criminal court systems. And the spin doctors would report that crime is down and/or could it be that less people are bothering to report the criminal offense. And sadly, the demoniac would continue to prey on society with promotions of a bawdy, obscene and risqué lifestyle as today's fashion. I'm also alarmed, by searching the websites, why so few Christian churches are open for prayer meetings (and fasting). However, I won't be too negative here—in that—my best prayers are said in the quiet of my home and able to sense the collective prayer of God's select servants. It's becoming more evident that the old adage of living "one day at a time" is quickly being replaced with more-and-more uncertainty, opinions and questions about our future. Changes in the environment, national security and economic pressures have shaken the stability of the country.
On this note, I'd like to encourage everyone to study the Bible and put aside happy-go-lucky teachings of this world. There is only one way forward in Jesus Christ and 101 sidesteps that may improve your earthly existence and are misleading the way of salvation.
